Donald Trump suggests he won Nobel Prize for brokering Israel-Arab peace deal in a campaign-style video

US President Donald Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for brokering a peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates through the 'Abraham Accords'. However, the prestigious award eventually went to the World Food Programme for 'its efforts to combat hunger'. Outgoing US President Donald Trump shared a video commemorating his tenure on December 29, which included a clip of himself receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. The clip has stoked a fresh row because Donald Trump, though nominated, did not win the Nobel Peace Prize. Donald Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize  for brokering a peace deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) through the “Abraham Accords”. However, the prestigious award eventually went to the World Food Programme for “its efforts to combat hunger”. Donald Trump defies Chinese warning, signs off on law on next Dalai Lama

US President Donald Trump has signed off on the legislation that reaffirms the right of Tibetans to choose a  successor to the Dalai Lama , a move described by the Tibetan government-in-exile as a “powerful message of hope and justice” to Tibetans living in Tibet. The United States Congress had passed the Tibet Policy and Support Act last week, provoking howls of protest from the Chinese foreign ministry that calls the legislation as an attempt to meddle in China’s affairs. “We urge the U.S. side to stop meddling in China’s internal affairs and refrain from signing into law these negative clauses and acts, lest it further harms our further cooperation and bilateral relations,” Foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said last week after the legislation was approved by the US Congress. As news of the new law emerged on Monday, the Chinese foreign ministry said Beijing had firmly rejected the US legislation and “Tibet-related iss

Trump Refuses To Sign Covid Aid Bill, Millions To Lose Jobless Benefits

Washington:   Millions of Americans saw their jobless benefits expire on Saturday after US President Donald Trump refused to sign into law a $2.3 trillion pandemic aid and spending package, protesting that it did not do enough to help everyday people. Trump stunned Republicans and Democrats alike when he said this week he was unhappy with the massive bill, which provides $892 billion in badly needed coronavirus relief, including extending special unemployment benefits expiring on December 26, and $1.4 trillion for normal government spending. Without Trump's signature, about 14 million people could lose those extra benefits, according to Labor Department data. A partial government shutdown will begin on Tuesday unless Congress can agree a stop-gap government funding bill before then. After months of wrangling, Republicans and Democrats agreed to the package last weekend, with the support of the White House. Trump, who ha

Trump warns Iran against additional attacks on Americans in Iraq

United States President Donald Trump has blamed Iran for a rocket attack on the US embassy in Baghdad and threatened a military response if any Americans are killed. In Sunday’s attack, a volley of rockets hit the US embassy in Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone, Iraq’s military said, sparking fears of renewed unrest. An Iraqi military statement said an “an outlawed group” launched eight rockets hitting the Green Zone, injuring one Iraqi security officer damaging cars and a residential complex. “Our embassy in Baghdad got hit Sunday by several rockets,” Trump said on Twitter, referring to an attack that caused damage but no deaths.  “Guess where they came from: IRAN,” he added. “Now we hear chatter about additional attacks against Americans in Iraq … Some friendly health advice to Iran: If one American is killed, I will hold Iran responsible. Think it over,” Trump said. There is increased concern at the White H

Donald Trump threatened to not vacate White House on Joe Biden's inauguration day?

WASHINGTON:  United States President Donald Trump, who hasn't yet conceded his presidential defeat to Joe Biden, has allegedly threatened to not vacate the White House for his successor, said a CNN report.   It was reported that Trump made these remarks during 'his deepest moments of denial' while this action has alarmed his aides, some believe that Trump would follow through. If Trump continues to remain adamant on not exiting the White House, a constitutional crisis will arise in America. The inauguration of US President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris is scheduled to take place in the White House on January 20. US President Donald Trump has been reluctant to concede defeat at the hands of Joe Biden in November 3 presidential election. In fact, he went on to challenge Biden's victory in several states, but his arguments could not stand in the courts.

First Covid-19 vaccine administered in the US, tweets President Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump on Monday announced the administration of the first Covid-19 vaccine on Twitter as shipments of frozen vials reached the United States to battle the coronavirus disease. Marking the onset of what will be the largest vaccination campaign in the US history, shots made by Pfizer Inc and its German partner BioNTech are the first authorised for emergency use by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Several other countries also have given their nod of acceptance for the vaccine, including the UK, which started vaccinating last week. Packed in dry ice to stay at ultra-frozen temperatures, the first of nearly 3 million doses being shipped in staggered batches this week made their way by truck and by plane around the country Sunday from Pfizer’s Kalamazoo, Michigan, factory. Once they arrive at distribution centres, each state directs where the doses go next. Also read:  US set for first Covid-19 shots as shipments begin arriving The U

Major blow for Trump as US Supreme Court rejects Texas election lawsuit

The US Supreme Court has rejected a lawsuit filed by Texas, along with 17 other States, and backed by President Donald Trump seeking to overturn the results of the presidential elections in several key battleground States won by Democratic candidate Joe Biden, who now is the president-elect.  “Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognisable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections. All other pending motions are dismissed as moot,” the Supreme Court said in a brief unsigned order on Thursday, delivering a devastating blow to the efforts of Trump to challenge and overturn the election results decisively won by Biden. Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas said they believed the court was required to hear the case but expressed no position on Texas’ claim. As many as 126 Republican Congressmen had also backed the lawsuit. Biden not only bagged the most popular votes in the presidential electoral hi

As his term ends, Trump faces more questions on payments to his hotel

Written by Eric Lipton It was a month before Donald Trump’s inauguration, and one of his aides had a delicate question: Wasn’t there going to be a backlash when it became known that the inauguration had spent donors’ money at Trump’s hotel in Washington, even though other places would cost much less or even be free? “These are events in P.E.’s honor at his hotel, and one of them is with and for family and close friends,” Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, then an event planner for Trump, wrote in an email to a colleague in December 2016, referring to Trump as the president-elect and saying she raised the issue to “express my concern.” As Trump’s presidency comes to a close, expenditures like those are receiving renewed legal scrutiny in the form of a civil case being pursued by the attorney general for the District of Columbia. At the heart of the case is a question — whether Trump and his family have profited from his public role, som
